Some like it hot!

I just can’t get enough I love anything spicy. I’m actually waiting on a bottle of super spicy, hot sauce from my #1 facebook friend but I haven’t received it yet. (Yeah, you know who you are…)…. Anyhoo, I put salsa/tobasco/pepper on anything and everything. Yesterday for lunch I had cucumbers with salsa, carrots dipped in hummus with tobasco sauce and a spicy V8. I just can’t get enough. Why don’t they make vegetable flavored yogurt? (I just submitted that to Dannon so they can get a leg up on disgusting Barfbani Greek yogurt.)  You could probably pickle anything and I’d eat it. NOM. If you guys have any suggestions of new things I HAVE to try, please tell me. Perhaps it’s because of my spicy personality that I like spicy foods?

Kinda funny story? (Probably not out loud but I’ll tell you anyway)In college I had some Mexican friends who invited me over for dinner. Boom, this was awesome. (PS, authentic Mexican food is nothing like MexTex like Taco Johns, it’s like, a million times better. My FAV meal is Chiles Relleno) Anyway, there was a dish of red “salsa” setting on the table next to some homemade tortilla chips and another dish of salsa. So I grab a delicious, warm fresh homemade tortilla chip and dip it into the red “salsa” and as I put it up to my mouth, everyone started shouting not to but the momentum carried the chip into my mouth and I chewed. All of a sudden it felt like I couldn’t breathe and my throat was on fire. The “salsa” I had eaten was this special Mexican hot sauce that even people who have eaten it for years, only eat a teaspoon of and I had loaded up a chip with it. I was sweating, my mouth, throat, and stomach were on fire and I was crying. There wasn’t enough milk in the world to make me feel better. I was like this for about an hour before I finally calmed down.

Nothing can satiate this hunger for hot and/or pickled delicacies. Everything photographed here is currently in my possession and being eaten at this time.

XOXO,

SPICY

I didn't realize it at the time but no, I do not have a giant pickle growing out of my head.
Lucky because I'd eat it.

Fire Hydrant Run

Just got done with an awesome run. I went 7.24 in 1:02 for an average of 8:33 per mile. This has easily become one of my favorite routes and I've done it three times this week. This 7 mile loop seems so much easier than some of my shorter loops and I don't know why. It goes in and out of several different n'hoods so I get to switch of scenery, I'm running a mile around the park so I get some nature, it's pretty flat but some fun hills to charge up but best of all, it just feels comfortable. Since today was the third time I've done it in a week, I needed just a little pick me up. So I came up with a new game for myself. It's called the fire hydrant run. Any time I started slowing down, I looked ahead to where the next hydrant was and would make myself pick it up until I hit that marker. Obviously this game is probably only good in the city but I would do something similar when I lived in the country. I'd pick a road sign and make myself push it until I hit whichever landmark I had picked out. This is just a fun game to play if you need an extra boost in your WO, which I know all of us need from time to time!

Also, I was thinking about this the other day, what if I had to choose which website to use if I could only have one the rest of my life. It was between facebook and MapMyRun. I decided it would be my running site. I love it, it's the best for plotting different routes in any neighborhood, anywhere in the world! Literally, I've plotted routes in Rome, Switzerland, Paris, Israel, NY, San Fran... the list goes on and on. I just love this site, you can track your workouts, your diet, how you feel, and connect with other runners. The best part is they've made it so you can map anything you'd like from running to biking and let people know if it's good for exercise, commute, etc. Seriously, check out this site, I can't say enough good things about it.

One more fun tip from me... Husby had chips and salsa with lunch but I didn't want chips right after a run so I sliced up a cucumber and ate that with salsa. NOM! I love being able to substitute something healthy like that for a delicious treat.

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful weekend as much as I am (running, golf, baseball, and husby is home!)!

XOXO,

rnrgrl (This would be my license plate if I ever got a personalized license plate, just sayin)

A thing I love.

As a Minnesota sports fan I often have my heart broken. It's like a tumultuous relationship that everyone tells you to get out of but you just can't because deep down, you're in love even though you know it might not be the best thing for you.

Anyway, our basketball team (if you can even call it that) is awful. I think they've lost 56 out of their last 78 games and currently hold the worst record in the NBA.

The Vikes, when I don't bleed red, white, and blue I bleed purple and gold (I went to college at Minnesota State, Mankato who also sport the colors purple and gold. Go Mavs!). I love football and besides running it could possibly be my favorite sport to watch. Probably because it's one game a week for 3 hours, I don't have to watch 140 games a season. But, come on, Hookers and blow on a boat? Drunk driving arrests, drug arrests, calling the NFL modern day slavery, all topped off by the Media Circus that is Brett Favre? It takes a lot of patience to love them. I know there are good guys on the team, there has to be. Too bad we never hear about them.

All of this leads to a thing I love... THE MINNESOTA TWINS! These guys usually have a winning record, they're very accessible, games are fun, they seem like really good guys and, I'd be lying if I didn't say I love the fancy season seats we have. (Thanks Dad in law!) I mean, Joe Mauer, what a good, wholesome person. Not caught doing drugs, have an affair and the best part? He's a Minnesota Kid. I love Cuddy, Kubes, Morneau (when he's healthy...), Nard Dog, Casilla, Danny, Thome, Delmon, and Pavano. This could be the year we make it to the Big Show. The reason I decided to share today is that it is Twins home opener, AKA, my favorite day of the year.

Me and TC, our mascot, we're pretty much BFF.

Outdoor baseball? Don't mind if I do!

BP's and us in The Dome at a playoff game circa 2009 (we obviously won)

OH TK!

NARD DOG!

Opening day in the new stadium against the Red Sox.

Our awesome seats.

Twins earrings!

Opening Day outfit, 2011! YEA!

My favorite sports photographer, Wayne Kryduba.

Gross Yankees.

Thome is my homey!

Jakey and Lili!

Kubes right before he hit the first homer in the new stadium. And my on/off again favorite.

Celebrity sighting! Larry Fitzgerald (who also happens to be a huge jerk. I tried to get a photo with him after the game because he's a MN boy and I sat by his dad on the plane down to AZ one time and since SR and I are bff I thought he wouldn't mind taking a photo. Nope, he's a dik )

Let's Go Twinks!

Hi, my name is Fernando

Ok, Fernando is pretty much THE CAUTEST PUPPETH on the planet. Am I partial? Probably. I mean, I do see friends post equally cute photos on their facebook so I know other cute dogs are out there. I just happen to like mine the best. Fern was adopted by Husby and his ex, Lindsifer (get it, Lucifer? Except I really have no reason to despise her especially since I think it was her idea to get little buddy so I should actually really like her. Anyone care to analyze?) Anyhoo... Fern's original name was Harley. What most of you don't know is that while Husby will make huge, very strategic, investments in business, he is not a daredevil at all and refuses to ride a motorcycle. Which surprises me because he was part of a moped gang in college... Anyhoo x2....  Now, if I were going to name a dog Fernando, I would spell it Furnando. He's a dog, he has fur, this is clever. But they didn't, so we have Fernando. People always ask why that is his name and I tell them he was a rescue dog, which is the truth, I'm just omitting the part about where his name was Harley... I guess, ABBA anyone?

So, Lindsifer ended up with the dog and took him to Wisconsin where she realized it's tough to be a single mom so we got Fernie back! I never had a dog growing up (completely don't blame my parents, they are a TON of work. Did anyone see my FB status about can't wait to have kids to pick up puppy poopy? Yeah, a ton of work) so I was super excited to have a dog finally! Anyway, since getting Fern just about a year and a half ago, I’ve had so much fun with little buddy and he has sure been a great companion while Matt travels. Well, minus getting up in the middle of the night because he wants a treat. Both my Dad & D-I-L call him Ferd because Fern is a girls name, whatever you call him, call him cute!

#1. Look how cute this guy is! I swear I did not put his sheepy baby next to him, he brought his baby with him to snooze.

#2. He is my #1 favorite running buddy!  I don't have one other running friend who is always so excited to go for run no matter the time of day, weather, what they have eaten. LOVE my running buddy!

#3. He is such a good cuddler! I love that he is like my own little space heater and cuddles under the covers with me!

#4. Um, how many other dogs let you dress them up? Obviously the doggy halloween costumes were too funny and I had to get two, a banana split and a hot dog. And then, to make Husby smile, sent him a pic of Fern fern wearing his Zubaz.

#5 He is kind of a little creep but I think it's cute when he just checks in to see what we're doing

Hey Creepy, he's peeking over the couch while I'm on the elliptical.

#6. I mean, what dog sits like this? A genius dog, that's who.

And finally, #7. I brought him, and picked him up from, getting his balls chopped and he still loves me.

XOXO,

Fern's Mommy
