IN LOVE

Um, I die. This litle girl is so cute it melts my heart. Not like it takes a lot to melt my heart, I'm totally the girl who cried at the picture of the dog sleeping by a soldier's casket and it doesn't even take me a full Hallmark commercial before the tears start flowing. I'm a sap, what can I say?

I know you guys have met my little Brendy before, I introduced her a LONG time ago. Like, a year.

I first learned about Compassion International when I was at a Michael W Smith/Amy Grant (Yes it was a Christian concert but she sang Baby, Baby) concert. They both sponsor children through this organization. While Christian orgs are not the only ones I support, I do try and do right by the Snoop GOD and honor him through my charity work. Soapbox-out. Anyway, Compassion is a Christian organization that center their focus on the compassion of Jesus in order to best help others. I wasn't super sold on this idea because all I kept picturing was Sally Struthers trying to get me to donate pennies a day to keep these kids alive but I knew she was eating my pennies. After doing my due diligance, I decided to go for it. For the low, low price of $30 a month, you help your sponsor child and their families survive. Literally, your money keeps most of these family alive. It gives them food to eat and water to drink. It clothes and shelters them. Some kids are orphans, Brenda is lucky, she's not. She has a whole family to love her, other kids are not as fortunate.

This is just the most recent letter I received from Brenda, we sent her money for Christmas and the dress below was picked out by her. She also picked out new shoes, purchased an amazing amount of rice, flour, and beans for her family. And she bought sweets to share with her classmates. This letter was extra special to me because she took a crack at our name. It's a tough one I have trouble with sometimes. I think she's a genius.

Anyway, if honoring Christ is as easy as loving this sweet little girl who is half way around the world, count me in.

March Run Stats aka I'm Doing Awesome

I kinda thought I'd be logging more miles with my 2012 goal but... I still think I'm doing ok. I ran 20/31 days in March (technically 24 if you count the days I mapped a run with furbaby on top of regular run). Plus I worked out 25/31 days. Totals for the year are; 57/91 days running and 72/91 days exercising. Plus I was super sick for four days in February so... I fell pretty good about myself. My clothes still fit. I haven't weighed myself in a month, which actually feels really good! And I've been trying new things to keep me going. I need to get back to Yoga, it really does center me and I feel like it takes away my stress. I just love to run and this goal keeps me lacing up my shoes even when I don't always feel like it.

Here's a link to a cute YouTube video by Nike.

She's back & pics

Do you ever feel so bored you don't feel like doing anything? That's kind of how I've felt the last month. I don't know why. The weather here in MN is FABULOUS, got to spend a week in FL with the LOML, I've been running REAL fast, pretty much a whiz at WWF (Words with friends, but like I needed to tell you), my tiny tower has 72 floors, my house is pretty clean. Everyone is pretty healthy... I've just been so bored! So much has happened that I should want to blog about but every once in a GREAT while I feel like social media is running my life and I need a break. I don't tweet, facebook, pin, check-in, blog, instragram... You name it, I don't do it. Now I have a TON of pics I can't wait to show you.

I probably should have blogged about a new recipe husb and I came up with or the fun brunch we had with my family last weekend. The face that we've owned KY stores for a year. Speaking of KY, UK Wildcats pride! Baseball is starting. The babies are getting teeth and eating baby cereal. Our baby sitch, or lack thereof. My March Run stats... I mean, kind of a big month. I'll just post pics instead. They're way more entertaining.

PS, we'll be in NYC end of June and I want to do a race, preferably around Manhattan so if you know of anything, let me know.

Poops & Pictures, A Run

I think I've told you guys before how awesome it is to live in MPLS. We have the best parks and trail systems of any metro in the US. I'd put money on it.

Since it was 55 yesterday in the TCs I wanted to get outside and do something different. Hubs was in Omaha so I had to take the furbaby with. I love him too much to leave him at home but I really wanted to go fast, the weather was perfect, warm and melty, and I didn't want the butt sniffer to hold me back. My love for this thing that can't even talk, won out and we hopped in the car to head over to Lake Harriet. Sometimes I surprise myself and remembered to grab a towel for the wet dog.

I knew this would be a run for Fern and not really for me so I settled in and just went with it. There were tons and tons of people going around the lake. Not surprising since the first nice day in Minnesota is ALWAYS busy. We went about a mile when I veered away from the lake to one of my favorite paths, Minnehaha PKWY.

We finished up going around the other side of Lake Harriet and got in 4 solid miles. We stopped for pics and potties.

Damn Fern got butt on my running jacket.
He has an anal gland problem. No seriously, he does.
It smells horrible and now it's on my jacket.

If this isn't pretty, I don't know what is.

Lake Harriet

UFO! JK, it's a plane.

Lake Harriet Bandshell!

Only thing I don't like about this run buddy.

My outfit today. Some people say red heads shouldn't wear orange.
I disagree.
